Brian Clapp

Brian was born June 17, 1968 in Waverly, Iowa, to John and Sally (Johnson) Clapp. He was raised with his brother Jason in Lost Nation, Iowa, graduating from Lost Nation High School in 1986 and the University of Iowa in 1990 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Brian married Tracy Grant, his high school sweetheart, on August 10, 1991. The couple have two children, Michael, 13, and Lauren, 10, who quickly became the centerpiece of Brian’s life. He was an ideal husband and father whose greatest gift was the love he shared with family.

Brian was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City. He was noted for the honesty and integrity he brought to his work as Sales Manager for Copy Systems Inc. He inherited his sense of humor from his grandfathers, frequently sharing it with friends, family, clients and co-workers. Brian was an avid collector of comic books who also loved music, movies, playing basketball and meeting new people. He loved being involved in Michael and Lauren’s athletic, scholastic and musical activities and he looked forward to coaching Lauren’s Regina Blaze Softball team this year.

Those left to honor Brian’s memory include his wife, Tracy, and children, Michael and Lauren Clapp of Iowa City; parents, John and Sally (Johnson) Clapp of Bella Vista, Arkansas, formerly of Iowa City; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Jessica Clapp of Highland Village, Texas; grandmothers, LaVonne Johnson of Austin, Minnesota and Joan Clapp of Lost Nation, Iowa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Patty Grant of Delmar, Iowa; sisters-in-law and brothers-in -law, Jolene and Kevin Henning of DeWitt, Iowa, Molly and Matthew Engstrom of DeWitt, Iowa and Larry and Tammy Grant of Ankeny, Iowa; his beloved five nieces and three nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brian was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, George Johnson and David Clapp and his beloved Huskie Calie.
