Dorothy E. Wetrich, 89, formerly of 20 Arbor Hill Circle and a resident at Legacy Pointe died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.
Dorothy was born September 16, 1918 in Tiffin, Iowa, the daughter of Sylvester and Catherine Reiland Brant, and was a graduate of University High School in Iowa City. Dorothy married Vincent Wetrich on April 30, 1938 in Iowa City.
Dorothy had been employed at UIHC, retiring in 1996, and had also worked at the Stable,
a women’s clothing store for twelve years.Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Altar & Rosary Society, Elks Club and University Club. She enjoyed bridge and was in several bridge clubs.
Dorothy will be remembered as being young at heart and meticulous about her appearance. She was a great cook, avid Hawkeye fan and followed the Iowa City City Hawks sporting events.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Wetrich and Nancy Jane “Janie” (Mrs. Larry) Brown, both of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Lori (Craig) Worman,
Lisa (Michael) Strange, Chris (Tracy) Carspecken, Wendy (Jamie) Baumhoefner, Greg (Kristen) Brown, Leslie (Morgan) Deprenger, Amy (Scott) Benke, and Michelle Wetrich; twenty one great grandchildren.Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in 2004 and their son, Rick, one granddaughter, Jennifer, and siblings, Clarence and Elmer Brant and Marie Colony.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Patrick Church Building Fund.
