Sharon M. Kost, 61, of 1807 North Ridge Ct., died Sunday, May 25th, 2008 following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, May 29th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Wally Helms officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm and a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Sharon was born on October 9th, 1946 in Iowa City, the daughter of Eugene Joseph and Jessie Loretta (Fleming) Miller. She was a 1964 graduate of Regina High School. On September 20th, 1969, Sharon was united in marriage to Roger Kost at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Sharon had been employed for more than 27 years at The University of Iowa, where she was a clerk in the admissions office at Calvin Hall.
Sharon was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching all of the games. Her family meant everything to her. Sharon cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandson Jake. Throughout her life Sharon was always concerned about those that were less fortunate. Every year around the holidays, she would donate food to the crisis center.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Roger and their son Chad and his wife Roberta of North Liberty and their son Jakoda (Jake); her five brothers and sisters, Ralph E. Miller of Iowa City, Thomas D. (Dennis) Miller and his wife Helen of West Branch, Barbara J. Miller of Iowa City, Steven G. Miller and his wife Kat of West Branch and Margaret A. Brokke of Iowa City; numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Harley, who will miss her dearly.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother John Francis.
