Dorothy M. Grell, 79, of Legacy Pointe in Iowa City, and formerly of Coralville, died Friday, June 20, 2008 at Windmill Manor in Coralville from complications of a fall in her home last Friday.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. The family will greet friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials can be directed to the Dorothy M. Grell Memorial Fund.

Dorothy was born November 16, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Wortman) Evans. Raised in Iowa City, Dorothy graduated from Iowa City High School and attended both the University of Iowa and Iowa City Commercial College. Dorothy married Frank Grell on March 4, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

With her husband, Dorothy co-owned and operated many businesses in the area including Skateland, The Red Stallion and for 19 years, a tailor shop, Grells Custom Shop and most recently Hillside Packaging in Coralville.

Survivors include her children, Dee Grell of Tiffin, Wayne Grell and his wife Denise of North Liberty, Roy Grell and his wife Lisa of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Dalton, Callee, Jake, Jessica and Jenna; sister, Judy Graper of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 2001, her step-parents, Roy Novy and Eileen Evans.
