Dorothy E. Haman, 88, of Iowa City died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Highland Ridge in Williamsburg following an extended illness.

Dorothy, known as “Dottie” to some friends,was born August 8, 1920 in rural Iowa City the daughter of Raymond and Anna Skriver Rohret. She was a 1938 graduate of Cosgrove High School. On October 15, 1941 she married Vincent Haman at St. Peter’s Church in Cosgrove. Vincent died February 1, 1998.

Dorothy and Vincent farmed in the Tiffin area for many years. Dorothy was employed at Mercy Hospital, Randall’s and for thirteen years at Westinghouse Learning Corporation, where she retired from in 1982.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the National Catholic Society of Foresters.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Highland Ridge and Compassus Hospice for the loving and tender care they provided to Dorothy.

Dorothy is survived by her five children, Dorothy (Gary) Hosch of Swisher, Linda Rohret of Durham, NC, Vincent (Sue) Haman of Omaha, Ray (Ellen) Haman of Oxford, Mary Lee (Chuck Porto) of West Branch; nine grandchildren, Theresa Hosch (Jeff) Blair, Kristina Hosch (Brad) Ferguson, Maria Hosch (Jae) Brandon, Amy Rohret (Bill) Nemachek, Jill Rohret, Michele Haman (Dennis) Guetterman, Jon (Laurie) Haman, Alysia Haman and Amanda Lee (Taylor) Monday; thirteen great grandchildren; her sister
Vera Kaefring of Iowa City; three brother and sisters-in-law, Robert Rohret, Joan Haman and Orianna Haman, all of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Minta, Marguerite, Mildred and Evelyn.
