Warren H. Meyer of Coralville, formerly of Davenport and Walcott, peacefully departed this life at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on November 6, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.

Warren Meyer was born October 23, 1923 in Davenport to Herbert H. Meyer and Edith W. (Meints) Meyer.

Warren was a self employed farmer until his retirement in March 1966. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 50 year member of the Fraternal Lodge No. 221, a member of the Director’s Staff of Kaaba Shrine and also a life long member of the Scottish Rite, Mohassan Grotto and Scott County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Meyer served on the board of Directors of the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Chicago for many years. He served on the Scott County Library as a board member and president until his appointment to the Southeastern Iowa Regional Library Board and later as president, retiring in 1990. He served as a board member of the Easter Iowa Farm Business Association.

He is survived by one brother, Dr. Edgar (Jean) Meyer of Cashmere, WA, two sisters, Janette (Allan) Robertson, Davenport, IA, and Ardith (Robert) Wilkens, Chicago, IL, his children, Nancy Darman of Huntington Station, NY, Kathy Robinson-Kramer and husband John of Iowa City, Kristy Meyer Vyncke and husband Richard of Colorado Springs, CO, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his dear friend and special person Carol Bordner of Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren.

Warren’s family would like to thank Lantern Park Care Center and Iowa City Hospice for all their help and compassion they gave to Warren.
