Melvin E. Green, 80, of North Liberty died at his home Monday, May 11, 2009 following an extended illness.

Family services have been held. Memorials may be directed to the Melvin Green Memorial Fund, PO Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.

Melvin was born December 13, 1928 in Menlo, Iowa. Melvin owned the Melvin Green Construction Co. and built many homes in Iowa City and Coralville. He later became director of maintenance at Iowa City Care Center, and was also employed at Jerry’s Standard in Coralville.

Survivors include his daughters, Patti (Larry) Skiye of Center Point and their children
Taylar and Logan and Kathy Droll of Iowa City and her children Amanda (Douglas Warnock) and Justin Kacena; two great granddaughters, Lily and Emma; and special friend, Ruth Newman.
