William Kirwan, 72

KIRWAN, William G. Age 72. Passed away December 9, 2008 in Palm Springs, CA. Proceeded in death by father J. William Kirwan, mother Elsie and step mother Lillian. Bill was born June 14, 1936 in Marshfield, WI. In 1940, the family moved to Iowa City where Bill's father established Kirwan Furniture. After graduating from St. Patrick's High School, Bill attended Notre Dame University and the University of Iowa. He served two years in thee army most of the time in Germany. After his discharge, he joined Kirwan Furniture as a salesman. When his father retired, Bill became manager and held that position until retiring in 1995. He relocated to Palm Springs shortly after retirement. Bill is survived by his loving sister Celeste Kirwan (Larry) Johns of Minneapolis, step brothers Warren (Sandy) and Steve (Judy) Shank, step sister Sue (Dave) Tesdahl, their children and Celeste's step children Larry III, Tom and Jean Johns as well as many friends. There will be a Memorial Service for Bill at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 2 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 1122 North Dodge St., Iowa City.
