Services:Memorial Services will be held at 11am, Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City with Revs. Marsha Accord and Calvin Yoder officiating.
Visitation:The family will greet friends Friday from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.
Lowell D. Brandt, 58, of Iowa City died Wednesday evening at home following an apparent heart attack.

Lowell was born in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Wesley and Ethel Brandt. He was a graduate of Postville High School, and received his BA in History and MA in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Iowa. On May 25, 1973 Lowell married Paula Overland in Postville.

Lowell was the warden of the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale. Prior to his appointment as the warden, Lowell had been employed with the Iowa Department
of Corrections for over thirty five years.

His memberships include both the American and the Iowa Correction Associations.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Paula; his mother, Ethel of Decorah; his siblings,
Loren (Janine) Brandt and Janice (Mike) Koenig, both of Postville and JoAnn (Kurt)
Uhlenhake of Ossian; his mother-in-law, Margaret of Postville; brother and sister- in-laws, Jennifer (Mark) Zieman of Postville, Jeff Overland of New Haven, CT and Joel Overland of Spring Green, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lowell was preceded in death by his father.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Foundation for the Lowell Brandt Scholarship in Rehabilitation Counseling at the UI College of Education.
