Services:Ruth chose to be cremated. Her family is planning a Celebration of Ruth’s Life in the spring. Inurmment will be in Oakland Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City.
Visitation:
Ruth F. Williams, 61, of 649 Tipperary Road (formerly of 832 Normandy Drive) in Iowa City,
died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at home of cancer.

Ruth was born May 14, 1947 in Iowa City, the daughter of Hubert & Ruth (J’Anthony) Jaeckel.
Her family moved to Waterbury, Connecticut, where Ruth was raised and she then returned to the Iowa City area in 1965. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Iowa and then continued to do 2 years of post graduate work. She married Norman Williams August 23, 1972 in Waterbury, CT.

Ruth was a naturalist, photographer and musician. She lectured on various topics, she also studied Egyptology, made five trips to Egypt and cultivated many friendships in that area. She enjoyed the sciences, was a member of Unitarian Universalist Society in Iowa City and the Iowa City Bird Club. She enjoyed playing baroque and renaissance music. She also took students and was the primary instrumentalist with the Iowa City dance troop, Habeas Corpus.

Ruth is survived by her husband Norman of Iowa City, a son Christopher Williams of Iowa City, a step-daughter Paula Sassano (Steve) and a sister Karen Cavanaugh (Neil) of Waterbury, CT.

Her parents preceded her in death.

She touched the lives of many around her and will be greatly missed.
