Robert Henry Prine, Sr., 71, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 2-5 pm on Saturday, January 24 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Iowa Lions Eye Bank, 2346 Mormon Trek Blvd., Iowa City, IA 52246.

Robert was born in Oskaloosa, IA on January 5, 1938, the son of Henry and Lois (Else) Prine. He was raised in Oskaloosa and later graduated from Oskaloosa High School. Following high school, Robert moved to Iowa City and went on to earn his B.A. and M.B.A from The University of Iowa. For over 20 years, he worked for The University of Iowa as a Systems Analyst.

Robert was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He had a soft spot for ice cream, pizza and Tootsie Rolls and was very passionate about his ’97 Cadillac Deville. Most importantly, Robert cherised his grandkids and the time he was able to spend with them.

Robert is survived by his children; Elizabeth (Erik) Prine Pauls of Arlington Heights, IL, Anne (Joe) Lesiak of Marengo, IL and Robert (Ines) Prine Jr.of Hong Kong, one sister Jean Barnhill of Iowa City, eight grandchildren and one great grand-daughter He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Joan Jacobson.
