Services:Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 20, 2009 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City with Rev. Chris Lockeby officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Visitation:Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Ronald R. Swartzendruber, 66, of Iowa City died Monday, February 16, 2009 at UIHC
from a heart related ailment.

Ron was born December 1, 1942 in Iowa City, the son of Emmanuel and Lena Miller
Swartzendruber. On February 10, 1964 Ron married Judy Brooks in Kirksville, MO.

Ron served in Vietnam with the US Air Force. He retired from the Air Force with a rank of Master Sgt., after 23 years of service. Ron did small engine repair at Brenneman Pet and Seed.

Ron was a member of the Iowa City Horseshoe Assn. and the Iowa City Bowling Assn,
where he was on the Men’s Monday Night League. He enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife Judy and their two children and two granddaughters, Michael (Sheryl) of Nevada City, CA and their daughter Adrayene, and Cindy Tomas of Lone Tree and her daughter Alyssa; eight siblings, Mary (Frank) Hochstetler of Kalona, Jane Gingerich of Riverside, Gladys (Moses) Mast of Jefferson, OR, Robert (Doris) Swartzendruber of Iowa City, Richard (LaVonne) Swartzendruber of Reno, NV, Dorothy (Harold) Krebs of Washington, Glenn (Vicky) Swartzendruber of Bettendorf, and Carol (Billy) Campion of Tipton; two sister-in-laws, Orla Vadnais of Kewaskum, WI and Vicki Berens of Marietta, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold, niece, Kathy Hochstetler,
in-laws, Adeline and Ira Brooks and brothers-in-law, Joe Gingerich, Ron Brooks and Tom Vadnais.
