Paul Milder, 91

Paul J. Milder, 91, of Iowa City, died Wednesday March 11, 2009 at Windmill Manor Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Monday, March 16, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Iowa City, with Father Ken Kuntz officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City, with a Vigil Service starting at 5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Iowa City Catholic Community Foundation for Regina or National Parkinson Foundation.

Paul was born on October 24, 1917 in West Liberty, IA to John and Gertrude (Smith) Milder. He moved to Iowa City in 1958 where he was a carpenter for Wildman, Frantz, Miller and Burger construction companies. Paul married Lillian Frantz on May 7, 1941 in Hills, IA. Lillian died on January 4, 2001. Paul enjoyed spending time on his John Deere lawn tractor and collecting John Deere miniatures.

Paul is survived by his six children: Ron (Pat), Thomas (Marty), John (Pat) all of Iowa City, Catherine Milder of Las Vegas, NV, Phyllis Hathaway of Cedar Falls, IA, Linda Miller (Jeff) of North Liberty, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and six siblings: Bernard, Gerald (Pauline), John (Zita), Leonard (Marilyn), Eugene (Betty) and Patricia Kasper (Glenn).

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-in-law, Larry Hathaway and eight siblings: Sr. Mary Margaretta Milder, Louise McMullen, Wilma Dietsch, Elizabeth Frantz, Gertrude Nicholas, Edward, Maurice and Lawrence.
