Marjorie E. Wagner, 97 formerly of Oxford, died Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Amana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Diane Townsley officiating. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until services at the church. (A memorial fund has been established in her memory??????) Marjorie Elizabeth Weaver was born December 15, 1910, near Brooklyn, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Dee) Weaver. She was united in marriage to George N. Wagner on May 24, 1930 in Marengo. For many years the couple farmed on the Johnson-Iowa County line. After her husband's death in 1968, she worked for Bill Zuber's Restaurant in Homestead. She did this along with housekeeping for families in the Oxford area. She remained on the farm until 1996, when she moved to North Liberty, later to Coralville, then to Iowa City, before moving to the care center in 2002.

She was a longtime member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the Rebekah's, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her family includes her daughter, Janet M. Laures (Don) of Waterloo; grandchildren, Kyle Wagner (Barb) of North Liberty; Wanda Fennern of Tiffin; George Wagner (Pam) of Homestead; Mark Laures of Waterloo; Teresa Neuendorf of Cedar Falls; Chad Laures (Kim) of Virginia; and Joel Wagner (Carol) of Florida; 25 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, son, George L. Wagner, grandson, Lauren Gene Wagner, great-grandson-in-law, Bruce Neuendorf, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
