C. Arthur Orris, 74, North Liberty, Dies In Iowa City Today

NORTH LIBERTY – C. Arthur Orris, 74, died at 2:15 a.m. today at University Hospital in Iowa City, where he had been a patient the past week, undergoing surgery Monday.

Mr. Orris was born March 10, 1879, in North Liberty, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Orris.

He was married to Nevada Schley on February 25, 1901, at the Methodist parsonage in Solon. A resident of the North Liberty vicinity all his life, except for two years spent on a farm near Chippewa Falls, Wis., Mr. Orris farmed for 30 years, then entered the meat business at Oakdale and North Liberty.

Surviving in addition to the widow are a son, Opal, Independence; two daughters, Mrs. Homer Lucke, Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Dewey Burtlow, Golden, Colo.; four grandchildren; on great-grandchild; two brothers, Jesse and Oliver Orris of Iowa City, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Beltz of near Oelwein.

Funeral services will be held at the North Liberty Methodist church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Arthur Griffen officiating. Burial will be in the North Liberty cemetery.

Friends may call until noon Saturday at the Oathout funeral home in Iowa City, in charge of arrangements.
