Eric M. Sickels, 31 of North Liberty died at his home Thursday, October 16, 2008 due to a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Grace Community Church in North Liberty. Burial will follow at a later date at Silver Creek Cemetery near Manchester, IA. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in Eric's name. Eric M. Sickels was born May 9, 1977 in Davenport, IA, to Ken and Deb (Schmidt) Sickels. Eric graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1995. Following high school he graduated from the University of Iowa and later moved on to St. Ambrose University where he received his Doctorate in physical therapy. On May 19, 2001, Eric married Jamie Schneider in Waterloo, IA. Shortly after graduating from St. Ambrose the two moved to North Carolina before moving to North Liberty in 2007. Eric worked as a Physical Therapist at Physiotherapy Associates in Cedar Rapids.

Eric was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church enjoyed reading and was an avid sports fan. He loved to cheer on the Hawkeyes, but most of all he cherished the time he spent with his daughter Keira.

Eric's family includes, wife Jamie and daughter, Keira, of North Liberty; parents Ken and Deb Sickels of Iowa City; in-laws Jim and Sandy Schneider of Waterloo and Jim and Mary Stichter of Cedar Falls; two sisters Nicole (Kristian) Ranstrom of Ft. Collins, CO, Lindsay (Andriy) Kravtsova of Rivne, Ukraine; two grandmothers Vera Sickels of Ruskin, FL, Verna (Schmidt) Parham of Anamosa, IA and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Richard Schmidt, and Ken Sickels Sr.
