Services for Katie Beecher will begin at 9 am Sat in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in Mr. Calvary Cem, in Oxford.
Mrs. Beecher, 97 of Atrium Village in Hills, died Thurs after a long illness.
Visitation will be from 2 - 6 pm today in Donohue-Lensing Funeral Home where a rosary will be said at 4 pm by the Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America and a parish vigil service will begin at 4:30 pm.
She was born 28 Nov 1893 in Williamsburg, the daughter of James and Mattie Cooney O'Donnell. She married William Beecher, 4 Feb 1913, in Williamsburg. He died in 1961. She was a cook at City High, St. Mary's High School and University High School. The couple farmed near Oxford and moved to Iowa City in 1938.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church and for the past several years attended St. Joseph's Church in Hills. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by a daughter Marian (Mrs. William) Holland of Hills, two sisters, Marie Noonan of Sioux City and Helen Thompson of Green Bay, Wis; two grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A son died earlier.
