Thelma M. Miller, 89, formerly of Iowa City died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Lone Tree Health Care Center due to an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Thelma’s name. Thelma M. Purviance was born August 15, 1918 the daughter of Frank and Estella (Sink) Purviance. She graduated from the Cromwell School System in 1936. After school she met Glyde B. Miller who stole her away and they were married August 29, 1940 in Savannah, Missouri. After marriage Thelma and Glyde moved to Iowa City to start their family business Miller Rusco Windows and Doors. Thelma Helped Glyde manage their company along with being a house wife and taking care of their five children.

Her family includes three daughters Phyllis Petersen of Kingwood, TX, Alice Roe (Richard) of Elk River, MN, Dalene McClintock of Worchester, MA; two sons Gary Miller (Peg) of Nichols, IA, Brad Miller (Deena) of Davenport, IA; nine grand children; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glyde B. Miller; three brothers and one sister.
