PIONEER DIES NONOGENARIAN

-Sion Hill Passes Away at Home of Son, in his Ninety-Sixth Year-

Sion Hill, in his ninety-sixth year is no more.

This "grand, old man" of Johnson County, is dead, after a phenomenally long life, spent largely in Johnson County.

The end came last evening, at 4:15 o'clock.

He passed away at the home of his son, Oliver C. Hill, at 728 So. Clark street.

Surviving are Mr. Hill, the only son, and Mrs. Henry Mette, of Texas, the only daughter.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, from the "Brick Chapel", east of Iowa City. The interment will be made in the cemetery continguous [sic] thereto.

Mr. Hill has resided in Johnson County, 78 years, having come hither in 1838. He settled in Scott township and that was his home thru almost eight decades, longer than most people's entire lives.

His own age, 95, is remarkable and few people in Johnson county have attained a point so near the century mark.

Among the noble few state-builders who came to Johnson county as early as 1838 to settle, Mr. Hill was the final survivor, save Mrs. Isaac B. Dennis, who still resides at Coralville.

He has been a regular attendant at the Johnson County Old Settlers' association picnics for many, long years and had been eager to attend the 1916 reunion, and also the River Junction reunion, at Walker park, a few weeks ago, but Fate forbade.

Mr. Hill was a worthy citizen, and his friends, among the aged men and women, and the younger generation, as well, will mourn his death for many a day to come.
