PIONEER CALLED TO HOME BEYOND -
Owen J. Davis passed away last night, at 7:15 o'clock, of heart failure, following a brief illness, at his home in West Lucas.Mr. Davis was 71 years and 7 months of age, and was a native of Nevin, Carnarvonshire, Wales.
He came to America in 1866, and lievd [sic] in Wisconsin during the first five years of his residence in this country. The removal to Iowa was in 1871. Eight years later, he returned to Wales temporarily, and brought back a bride -- Miss Catherine Williams and since 1879, they haev [sic] occupied the homestead, where he passed away.
Surviving are his widow, three daughters and one son, all liivng [sic] in Johnson county. Two grandchildren, a brother, and a sister likewise survive.
The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon. The cortege will leave the residence at 1 o'clock, and will proceed to Trinity church, where the services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. W. D. Williams, an hour later. The burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Mr. Davis was a man of honor and probity. He ranked among the leading citizens of the county, and was respected by everyone who knew him. He will be mourned long.
