Amanda Carl Leonard was the daughter of George and Cordelia Carl. She was born in Cedar County, Iowa, May 24, 1847, and died at the home of her sister Mrs. S. N. Roberts at Creswell, Oregon December 28, 1915.
She came to Johnson county in about the year 1870 and was united in marriage to A. W. Leonard September 15, 1889. She was one of a family of ten children, four girls and six boys, of which there are three living, two brothers and one sister. They are F. T. Carl of Lone Tree, Henry of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Sophia Roberts of Creswell, Oregon. She also leaves four stepdaughters - Mrs. Lou Kelso, Mrs. Jennie Baker, Mrs. Nona Miller, and Mrs. Cora Huskins, all of Lone Tree, besides many nieces, nephews and a host of warm friends.
In early life she united with the Methodist church of which she has always been a faithful and active worker.
The remains arrived here Sunday morning and the funeral was held from the M.E. church the same afternoon, conducted by Rev. Barnett.
Interment was in Lone Tree Cemetery.
