July 15, 1924DEATH CALLS MRS. M'KINLEY
Nonagenarian of Iowa City Passes Away Early This Morning
Mrs. Mary McKinley, a beloved nonagenarian of Iowa City, quietly breathed her last this morning at 7:30 o'clock at her home, 526 N. Linn Street, where she had been in failing health a long time, through the ailments attendant upon old age, not because of any specific affliction.
The remains will be taken to her old home in Clermont, tomorrow morning at 7:15, following a brief service at her late home, conducted by the Very Rev. William P. Shannahan. The final sad rites will be observed in Clermont.
Mrs. McKinley was in her 92nd year and was one of the oldest citizens of Johnson County - in point of longevitym, as against actual residence here.
She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church where her heartfelt worsihp, during her earlier days of activity attested to her beautiful Christian spirit.
Surviving are her daughter, Miss Marie McKinley, a gifted musician of Iowa City; and her sons, Hon. M. L. McKinley of Chicago, long a law maker and law interpreter of Illinois - distinguished on the bench and in the legislature; and Dr. Archibald McKinley of Chicago. Judge McKinley was graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Law in 1895; and the doctor is an alumnus of the College of Liberal Arts, class of 1895.
Thus three talented children blessed with the finest education and culture, remain to testify to the enviable rearing the immortalizes a good mother's name. Mrs. McKinely sleeps but that name will love live in the hears of her fellow citizens as her children rise up and call her "blessed."
