Dean E. Carson age 60 of Iowa City died on Thursday December 19, 2002 following a brain hemorrhage at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic’s in Iowa City. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 10:30 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. He will be buried beside his parents and infant sister at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Iowa City at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home in Iowa City. Memorial donations may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.
Dean Edward Carson was born in Iowa City the son of Brook G. and Sylvia Meyer Carson. He attended Iowa City Schools and graduated from University High School. During his high school years he played football and was on the track team where held the state long jump record for a number of years. Dean had many interests; he loved motorcycles, BMW’s, Indians, and Motto Guzi along with riding dirt bikes. He owned many performance cars including numerous Corvettes, a 57 Chevy, 59 Convertible, a G.T.O. and Chevelle. Dean loved the outdoors and was an avid trap shooter and fisherman. He enjoyed camping, good food and an occasional cold beer; he supported the N.R.A. and was a member of the Iowa Bass Masters and the Iowa Trap Shooters Association. Dean lived on the farm where he grew up, and worked at Oral-B in Iowa City for more than thirty years. He will be remembered for his ability to easily make friends and he served as the primary caregiver to his mother until the time of her death. Dean also passed along his love of guns and fishing to his grandson Tyler, they spent many hours together.
Dean’s family includes a one daughter: Shawn and husband Chris Reynolds of Lone Tree: two grandchildren: Tyler and Makenzie Reynolds: one brother: Steve and wife Jeanette Carson of Oxford, a niece Michelle and husband Wade Wearmouth of Farrar, Iowa: two nephews Matthew and Tim Carson of Oxford along with numerous cousins.
His parents and an infant sister preceded him in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Dean’s services and his family.
