Kendrick “Bud” G. Chase, 90, of West Branch died Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Crestview Nursing and Rehab after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood, Iowa City. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Lensings. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery with military rites conducted by the West Branch American Legion. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kendrick “Bud” Chase memorial fund.
Bud was born December 7, 1912 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a small boy he and his family moved to Pasadena, California. In 1936 he was united in marriage to Nellie Randall in California. He and Nellie moved to West Branch. He served in the Navy from November, 1943 - December, 1945 as a Powder man on the U.S.S. New Mexico. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked as painter and a paperhanger until his retirement. Nellie died in 1967. He married Catherine Kabela on November 23, 1971 in West Branch, Iowa. Catherine passed away May 21, 2001. Bud was a member of the Old Capitol Chorus for many years.
He is survived by his son, Charles Chase and wife, Colette of St. Peters, Missouri, step-daughter, Catherine Ellyson and her husband Ronald of West Branch, two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, first wife, Nellie, and second wife, Catherine.
