IOWA CITY

Larry J. “Badger” Funk, 56, of 906 Spring Ridge Drive, Iowa City, died Sunday, December 1, 2002 at his home with his family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at the Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, with the Reverend Bruce Koen officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund in his name has been established.

Larry was born December 1, 1946 in Iowa City, the son of John and Ruth (Hauk) Funk. He graduated from City High School and had served in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Anita Ferguson on September 8, 1990 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The couple made their home in Iowa City, where he worked for RM Boggs.

Larry is survived by his wife, Anita of Iowa City, six daughters; Tammy Laughlin and her husband, Scott of Waterloo, Shane Barker and her husband, Tony also of Waterloo, Patti Ferguson, Morgan, Kelsey and Whitney Funk, all of Iowa City. Three grandchildren; Alex, Riley and Madelyn, two sisters; Gloria Kelley and her husband, Bob, Ruth Allender and her husband, Pat, two brothers; Clarence “Hop” Funk and his wife, Cindy, Kenny Funk and his wife, Deb, all of Iowa City, his in-laws, Pat and Jay Ferguson of Iowa City and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth.
