DEATH CALLS OCTOGENARIAN LOVED BY MANY
(Iowa City Press-Citizen, April 20, 1923)
Mrs. Julius Haberstroh, a beloved octogenarian of Iowa City, widow of a pioneer contractor and builder, whose numerous structures stand in Iowa City as monuments to his faithfulness as a trusty artisan, passed away last night at 8:45 o’clock, at her home, 324 North Gilbert Street. She had been ill but a brief time.

The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9 o’clock from St. Mary’s church, of which she was a loyal member many years. She was also a faithful member of its Altar society. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s cemetery.

She was eighty years, six months and seventeen days of age. Surviving are her three daughters and three sons—Mary C., at home, formerly a capable educator in the Iowa City schools; Sister M. Paul, of the Cross, St. Mary’s convent, Notre Dame; and Mrs. John Harvat, a sister-in-law of Mayor Emma Harvat, Livingston, Mont.; and Messrs. Adam and Julius Haberstroh , St. Louis; and John, of Livingston, Mont.

To these sons and daughters, who have lost a splendid mother, sympathy of their many friends, and hers, will be tenderly extended.
This obituary was transcribed from a microform copy on 30 November 2007 by Laureen M. Geppert Jacobs, great great grand daughter to Veronica Wagner Haberstroh. The Press Citizen newspaper on microform is at the State Historical Society Library in Iowa City.
