Marvin W. Frees, age 68 of rural Oxford died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford with the Reverend Walter Helms officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at the Oxford Chapel of Gay & Ciha Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in Marvin's memory. Marvin was born September 8, 1939 in Oxford the son of Marvin E. and Pearl C. (Anderson) Frees. He married Shirley Nash on February 13, 1961. He has been employed at Dillards in Coralville for a number of years and in the past has been in the construction field in this area.
His family includes his wife, Shirley; daughters, Linda Whitney (Bob) of Davenport, and Peggy Slade (Tim) of Iowa City; sons, Jimmy Frees (Melanie) of Tiffin and Kenny Frees of Texas; 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Heather, Cory, Johnny, Tonya, and Toshia; 11 great-grandchildren, brothers, Bob Frees of Wellman and Ed Frees of Tiffin; and a sister, Ellen Paintin of Oxford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter.
