Died Tuesday January 7, 1992 in Iowa City IA.
Lauren R. Geringer, 83, of 1319 Pine St., died Tuesday at home after a sudden illness.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church, with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Welsh will officiate.Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations will go to the First Christian Church.
He was born Wednesday June 3, 1908 in Mount Ayr, IA., the son of Leonard and Minerva Walters Geringer. He married Anita Margelene Novy on April 13, 1938 in Riverside, IA. He was a printer at the Iowa City Press Citizen.
He lived in Brooklyn, Wellman and in Iowa City for almost 50 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Iowa City and a member of the National Writers Club, the National Amateur Press Association, the Amalgamated Printers Association, the American Amateur Press Association and the AARP Johnson County Chapter No. 1816.
Survivors include his wife: two daughters, Norma (Mrs. William) Rarick of Iowa City and Karen Thompson of Joplin, MO; two sons, Larry Geringer of Tucson, AZ, and Darrell Geringer of Iowa City; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and one sister, Viola Wichmann of Montana.
His parents, daughter Marsha Kelley, one sister and one brother died earlier.
