Mary T. Lumsden, 85, of 320 S. Dubuque Street, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2002, in her home.

Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to the Iowa City Senior Center.

Mary was born March 13, 1917, in Iowa City, the daughter of Vincent & Albina (Karlicek) Turecek. She graduated from Iowa City High School and for 47 years, worked as a waitress at the Big 10 Inn, Hamburg Inn on Iowa Avenue and Reich’s Café. She married Richard Lumsden on July 29, 1940, in Kirksville, Missouri.

She is survived by her children, Michael Lumsden & his wife Carol of Indianapolis, Fr. Patrick Lumsden of Dodgeville, Iowa and Kathy Lumsden of Iowa City; one grandson, Sean Thompson of Ogden, Iowa; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; three brothers, George, Charlie & Joseph; and an infant brother.
