Rebecca L. “Becky” Ackerman (Farber), 41, of 1195 Elm Street in Marion, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 29, 2007 in the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

A Celebration of Becky’s Life will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing’s. Private burial will be Wednesday in Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to an education fund to benefit her son Tyler or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

Becky was born August 18, 1966 in Iowa City, the daughter of Ron and Donna Farber. She was a graduate of Iowa City High School and received her degree in applied management from Hamilton Business College.

Becky married Anthony Ackerman September 27, 1998 in Las Vegas. During and after graduation from high school, Becky worked at the north Dodge Street Eagle Food Store in Iowa City. She then worked for JC Penney, first at Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville and most recently, at their Westdale Mall location.

Survivors include her husband Anthony, her seven year old son Tyler, the center of her life;
her parents, Ron and Donna Farber of Coralville;
a brother David Farber and his wife Emily and their children, Benjamin, Abraham and Elsa Claire;
a sister, Beth Farber of Columbia, Missouri;
father and mother in law, Steve and Joan Ackerman of Marion;
a sister in law, Julia Ackerman and her children, Miranda Vollmer and Shawn Vollmer;
aunts and uncles, David and Lori Levene of Mt Prospect, Illinois and Hank and Meg Farber of Bettendorf;
and many cousins.
