Hilda Helen Young, age 85, of 2235 Palmer Circle, Iowa City left this world for a new life with the Heavenly Father on November 21, 2002. Hilda was the daughter of the late Guy and Mabel Hardman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2002 by the Reverend Marvin Feigenspan at the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church, Iowa City. Graveside Services will be held at 1pm Monday at the Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 4pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in Hilda’s memory to the Living Word Fellowship Church or Iowa City Hospice. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Hilda’s family and services.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Young in 1959. Her family includes two sons, S. Howard and his wife, Deanna Young of Wauwatosa, WI and Bryon K. Young of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Anthony and his wife, Mary Young, Timothy Young, and Elizabeth and her husband, Kyle Metzloff; four great-grandchildren, Laura Rose and Austin Young, and Tyler and Cayley Metzloff; two sisters, Bernice Snyder of Iowa City and Myrtle Schlutz of Grandview.

Hilda graduated from Grandview High School and had attended Cornell College. She retired as Food Service Supervisor from the Quadrangle Cafeteria at the University of Iowa.
