Camille R. (Cornie) Reyhons was called to rest in heaven with her lord on September 10, 2007 at the age of 87. She died peacefully in her sleep at the Solon Nursing Care Center, where she had resided since October of last year. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday September 14, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon with Reverend David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City, where a rosary and vigil will begin at 7pm. There will also be viewing from 9-10 A.M. Friday at the church. A general memorial fund has been established.
Cornie was born May 23, 1920 in Cosgrove, IA to William V. and Anna C. (Cox) Volk. In 1938 she was united in marriage to Leonard Reyhons of Solon. Together they owned and operated grocery stores in Ely and Solon. They later owned and operated the Solon Feed Mill. Their loving union produced 7 children, giving Camille many opportunities to bake kolaches for countless school fundraisers and church activities. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church of Solon, Altar and Rosary Society and the Solon Legion Auxiliary. While raising 7 children and baking kolaches, Camille found time to work p.m.’s at U. of I. Hospital, retiring after 25 plus years of service.
Camille is survived by her daughters; Ardeth Wray of Lisbon, IA, Bernita Stastny (Marvin) of Solon, IA, Cheryel Reyhons of Solon, IA, Este Weeces (Chip) of Solon, IA, Francene Snyder (Larry) of Ft. Smith, AR, a son, Tom Reyhons of Mesa, AZ, a son-in-law, Tom Naughton of Iowa City, IA, three brothers; Edmond Volk of Oxford, IA, Kenneth Volk (Elenor) of Wisconsin, Maurice Volk (Barb) of Wisconsin, a brother-in-law, Earl R. Anderson of Iowa City, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
Cornie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, daughter Donna Naughton, granddaughter Sherry Lnenicka, son-in-law Don Wray, brothers; Harvey and George Volk and sisters; Genevieve Montgomery and Mary C. Anderson.
