Death takes L.L. Kessler

Lived in Iowa City for 25 Years; Dies at Washington

Louis L. Kessler, 77, died at the home of his son; Dal Kessler, 11 miles west of Washington, Iowa today, following a sudden heart attack. He and Mrs. Kessler lived at 1115 Sheridan avenue until last April.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kessler, he was born April 4, 1864, near Solon also near Cedar Valley. Later he moved to a farm in Newport township and from there retired to Iowa City in 1915 and April 1942 moving to Washington, where he died.

He is survived by his widow, who was Dora Schley when they were married in October 1885. They had six children, Buford, Iowa City; Fred, Iowa City; Dal, Washington; Doran, Chattanooga, Tenn; Mrs. Charles Strub, Iowa City; Mrs. Joseph Buchmeyer, Newport Township.

There are also 10 grandchildren: Buford and Kathleen Kessler, Donald Kessler, Mrs. Dorothy May Kessler, Rodney Strub, Shirley Kessler, Genita Kessler, Karl Buchmeyer, and Orianna Buchmeyer, and two sisters; Mrs. Anna Shafer of Iowa City; and Mrs. Ed Adams of Alburnet.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
