Charles Strub, 85, of 511 N. Van Buren St., died Wednesday afternoon at the Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville after a long illness.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home, where visitation has begun. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetary.

Mr. Strub was born Feb. 27, 1984, in Johnson County, a son of John and Mary Bolei Strub. He married Finetta Kessler, Jan. 11, 1916, at Marion.

He was the former co-owner of Strub Bros. Machine Shop, but was more recently employed as a machinist and millwright at Protein Blenders.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Rodney of Iowa City; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was prededed in death by three brothers.
