THE SOLON ECONOMY, THURSDAY, MAY 23, 1918

The funeral of the late Jacob Schley was held Thursday afternoon with interment at Rogers Grove cemetery. Jacob Schley was born in Baden, Germany, and emigrated to this country when twenty years old. He served during the Civil war in the Pennsylvania cavalry troops. After the war he came to Iowa, purchasing a farm near Ely. Upon retiring from the farm he spent a few years in Cedar Rapids but later returned to Ely. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church, to which he was very faithful. He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Frederick, Hastings, Nebr; Charles, Mt Vernon; Mrs. Susana Brunner, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Elizabeth Hora, Mt Vernon; Mrs. Josephine Palmer, Ely; George, Manchester; Walter, Nottingham, Sask., Canada.

The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the deceased, the Rev. Paul H. Helsey, North Liberty.
