Goldie V. Freeman Westbrook 98 OF 1413 Brookwood Dr., Iowa City, Ia., died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Solon Nursing Care Center.
Funeral Services: 3 pm Saturday, Gay & Ciha Funeral & cremation Service in Iowa City.
Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City.
Visitation: 3 to 7 pm today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Goldies memory to the Barry Freeman Memorial Fund c/o the University of Iowa Foundation or to the charity of your choice.

Goldie Violda Lemmons was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Grant City, Mo., the daughter of George W. and Emma (Eagon)Lemmons. She attended school in Grant City. She married Ralph J. Freeman on Jan. 13, 1925, in Grant City. The couple moved to Iowa City with their family in 1929; here Ralh began a career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Ralph might have been the agent, but Goldie was very much part of his success in his field.
She always found the time and energy in assisting her husband in business, raising their family and especially enjoyed wintering in Florida in their Airstream. Ralph died Oct. 3, 1980. She later married Raleigh E. Westbrook on June 7, 1990, who along with his late wife, were dear friends of Ralph and Goldie's. Raleigh died June 17, 1993. She continued to winter in Florida, leading an active life, caring for her family & friends. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Iowa City.
Her family includes three sons, Robert (Marion)Freeman, of Loveland, Colo., Jim (Sandy) Freeman of Iowa City, and Gary (Carlin) of Coralville; nine grandchildren, John (Judy) Freeman of Loveland, Colo., Dan Fan Freeman of Independence, Rebecca (Tony) Chesck of Riverside, California., Michelle Freeman George of Syracuse, N.Y.,Christine (Calvin)Johnson of Philadelphia, Mike (Tammy) Freeman of Minneapolis, Susan V. Freeman Fischer (Timothy Fischer of Golden, Colo., Scott (Sue) Freeman of Coralville & Chad (Teresa) Freeman of Tiffin; great grandchildren, Nathan Freeman, Lauren Freeman, Jacob Freeman, Jennifer Chesck, William Chesck, David Chesck, Chelsea Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Lyndsay George, Caden Freeman, Brooke Freeman, Joel Vandenberg, Ben Fischer, Talor Freeman, Clay Freeman, Madison Freeman, Hunter Stokes, Hanna Stokes & Gage Freeman; and Goldie's sister, Elizabeth Sagese of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, daughter Betty Louise, as an infant; grandson Barry W. Freeman & four brothers & sisters.
Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service is caring for Goldies family & her services.
