Eldo J. Peterman, 86, of 2212 Rochester Ave., a former worker for Northwestern Railroad at Belle Plaine and a former employee at University Hospital, died at the Iowa City Care Center Monday evening after a long illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Iowa City, with burial in the Mentzer Cemetery, near Hills. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Mr. Peterman was born July 20, 1896, in Luzerne, a son of Henry and Martha Rosburg Peterman. He married Martha Westfall Smith, Sept, 20, 1945, at Iowa City and was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; three step-sons, Calvin Smith, Charles Smith, and Mink Smith, all of Iowa City; two step-daughters, Ila Hill and Norma White, both of Iowa City; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Niebuhr of Perry, and Mary Kueser of Luzerne.
A brother died earlier.
