James M. “Jamie” Elliott, age 35 of Coralville, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2006, at the Newman Center in Iowa City with the Reverend Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 2 to 6pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a parish vigil service will be held at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for his children. Online condolences may be sent for his family through our website at www.gayandciha.com. Sunday Parking Ordinance will be in effect for all the streets around the Newman Center.

Jamie was born May 11, 1971, in Iowa City the son of James Edwin Elliott III and Dela M. (Funk) Elliott. He attended schools in Iowa City graduating from City High School in 1989; he then attended both the University of Iowa and Kirkwood Community College. He married Jean Marie Beelner on June 19, 1992. Jamie has been employed with Hy-Vee for many years beginning in 1986, and has served as a manager at the First Avenue Store.

Jamie went through the ranks of scouting, accomplishing the highest rank as an Eagle Scout. He exemplified the merits of an eagle scout, living each day from all that he learned as a scout. He believed in his fellow man, was always willing to help, went above and beyond in everything that he did. He enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, but most of all in his life, when he was not at work, he wanted to be with his wife, and four children; they were everything to him!

His family includes his wife, Jeano; four children, A.J., Meika, and twins, Colby and Quentin; parents, Ed and Dela Elliott of Coralville, sister, Jennifer Elliott and her family (Madison, Liz, Emma, and Trevor) of Iowa City; Jeano’s parents, Pete and Marie Beelner of Iowa City, her brothers, John Beelner of Iowa City, and Joe Beelner and his family (Shannon and Duncan) of Ankeny; her sister, Jacquie and Matt Gorsh of Williamsburg; an Uncle, Dan Funk and several Aunts. Grandparents include, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred McDonald of Iowa City and Vivian Frey of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Anita Funk, James and Gladys Elliott, sisters Christine, and twins Stacy and Tracy.
