Coralville, IowaLeland H. Seimer, age 76 formerly of 1799 5th. Street, Coralville, died Sunday, October 15, 2006, at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a Military Honors Service will be at 12 noon. Burial will take place in Humphreys, Missouri. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Leland's memory.
Leland H. Seimer was born November 13, 1929, in Oxford, Iowa the son of Herman and Lena Miller Seimer. He graduated from high school in Oxford before enlisting in the United States Army during WWII and later serving in the Korean Conflict. On August 30, 1954, Leland married Helen Dehm in Iowa City. For over thirty-two years, Leland worked as a security Guard at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, retiring in 1995. He was a long time member of the Walter Johnson Post No. 721 of the Coralville American Legion, where he had held several different offices over the years.
His family includes a daughter, Peggy Pipes of Galt, MO; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Frances Neff of Humphreys, MO; and two very dear friends, Florence White and Jackie Anderson both of Coralville.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Corkie Neff; 4 sisters, and a brother.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring fore Leland's family and his services.
