PIONEER RESIDENT OF CITY PASSES
Andrew Vandenburg Dies At Home Wednesday

Andrew Vandenburg, long time resident of Johnson county and Iowa City, died at his home on I street in East Iowa City Wednesday morning at 12:40 o'clock. He was 95 years old and his death resulted from senility and complications. He had been in poor health for a year.

Mr. Vandenburg, long a carpenter here, was born in Ohio in 1833 and came to Johnson county in 1861, living for a number of years on a farm near Tiffin.

He leaves a son, Jack Vandenburg of Chicago, a daughter Mrs. Ed. Bowers of Bruceville, Ind., a brother James Vandenburg of Portland, Ore., and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, of which Mr. Vandenburg had been a member for many years. The Rev. W. C. Keeler will officiate and burial will be in Oakland cemetery. The body is now at Schneider Brothers funeral parlor, where it may be viewed by friends up until the hour of the funeral.
