Clementine L. Strabala, 95,of Iowa City, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Atrium Village in Hills following a short illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 9:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City with Reverend Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be at St. Vincent Cemetery Riverside. A luncheon at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Iowa City will follow the committal. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church, Iowa City or Atrium Village, Hills.

Clementine was born September 1, 1911 in Riverside, the daughter of Charles & Philomena Sueppel Scherrer. She was raised on a farm near Riverside until the age of 10, at which time the family moved to Iowa City. Clementine was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Iowa City, and on August 5, 1930 was united in marriage to John C. Strabala at St. Mary’s Church, Iowa City.

Clementine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City.

Survivors include her children, Theresa Strabala and Marina Harbit (Daniel), all of Iowa City; William (Rosalyn) Strabala of Arvada, CO.; Melvin Strabala and Maxine Nigro of Kansas City, MO.;Mary (Terry) Myers of Oxford; James Strabala of Lockport, IL.; Kathy (Ray) Kempa of Casper, WY.;Donald (Jackie) Strabala of North Liberty; Jane (Toshi) Hoshi of Bala Cynwyd, PA.; David Strabala and Holly Clark of Olathe, KS.; her brother, Paul (Dorothy) Scherrer of Riverside, Iowa; 42 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and one great grandson; sisters in law, Shirley Scherrer of Kansas City, MO. and Vivian Gauthier of Phoenix, AZ.; two daughters in law, Carol Strabala of Colorado Springs, CO. and Phyllis Strabala of Riverside, IA.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Clementine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, two brothers, Virgil and Elmer; two sons, Joseph and Jack; one daughter, Joan Barber; and one grandson.
