Barbara J. Brooks, age 64 of Newton, formerly of Des Moines died Friday, May 3, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from complication of a brain aneyursym.

No funeral services are planned at this time. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Barbara’s arrangements and her family.

She was born January 23, 1938 in Waverly, Iowa the daughter of William F. and Ruth A. (Harrington) Hennings. For over twenty years she worked for Ruperts Drug Store in Des Moines. On March 26, 1976 she married Phil Brooks in Des Moines. Mr. Brooks preceded her in death on July 1, 1993. She moved to Newton from Des Moines about four years ago.

Barbara’s family includes two brothers and their wives, William and Mary Hennings of Frankfort, IL, and Jerald and Linda Hennings of Waverly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters.
