Wilma Ruth “Granny” Haman, 81, of 111 High Street, Oxford, Iowa died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at her home from complication of cancer.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Oxford United Methodist Church, Oxford, Iowa with Reverend Diane Townsley officiating. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at the Oxford United Methodist Church, Oxford, Iowa. Memorial fund has been established with Iowa City Hospice and the Oxford United Methodist Church. Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service are in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Haman was born on January 17, 1921 in Chickasaw County, Iowa the daughter of Benjamin and Ruby Shannon Harrison. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1939. She married Edward V. Haman on October 7, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church and also very active in the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary. She was a cook for the Oxford Elementary School for over eighteen years. She enjoyed life, while playing cards, fishing, going dancing and also was a Cub fan.

Mrs. Haman’s family includes, her daughter, Claudia Haman of Oxford, Iowa; her four grandchildren, James Edward and his wife, Jennifer Portwood of Oxford, Iowa, Bill Portwood of Oxford, Iowa, Tina and her husband, Rodney Walls of Tiffin, Iowa, Mark and his wife, Diane Portwood of Homestead, Iowa; her seven great grandchildren, Kara Dietrich of New Hall, Iowa, Anthony Walls of Tiffin, Iowa, Savanna Walls of Tiffin, Iowa, Melissa Walls of Tiffin, Iowa, Tausha and her husband, Keith Sloan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Michael Kutcher of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Christopher Kutcher of Los Angeles, California; her one great great granddaughter, Dakota; her three sisters, June Modelin of Arizona, Jean Schumacher of Washington, Doris Bentley of Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Haman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward on September 11, 1985; her six sisters and brothers; one great grandson, Casey Walls.
