Terry M. Hart, age 55 of rural Iowa City died at his home Friday, May 17, 2002 following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial with military honors by the Coralville American Legion Walter Johnson Post No. 721 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Terry’s services and his family.

Mr. Hart was born April 19, 1947 in Iowa City the son of Garland and Sally (Hayden) Shaffer. He was raised in the Ft. Madison area, graduating from high school there. During Vietnam he served in the United States Army. He has worked as a general contractor for many years in Texas and also in this area, also worked as an independent contractor for the Iowa City Press-Citizen.

His family includes a daughter and her husband, Teresa and Rod Blair of Iowa City, three grandchildren, Ashley Blair of Iowa City, Nicholas and Natalie Salas both of Texas, his father, Garland Shaffer of Ft. Madison, and a number of siblings living in Texas; best frineds, Sherry and Gary Stunes of Wellman.

He was preceded in death by his mother, son, Michael Joseph Hart, and daughter, Candice Salas.
