Charles R. “Bob” Humphreys age 84 of rural Iowa City died at his home on Monday, August 12, 2002. Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:00 am at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with Chaplain Judy Gingerich officiating, entombment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home in Iowa City, Memorials may be given to Iowa City Hospice. Gay and Ciha Funeral Service are caring for Bob and his family.

Bob was born on February 2, 1918 in Mount Ayr, Iowa the son of Allen and Marguerite (Snedaker) Humphreys. He graduated Mount Ayr Schools and fought in WWII as a member of the United States Army. He married Dorothy Huffman on June 17, 1943 in Los Angles, California. They moved to Iowa City in 1948 where he has farmed since. Bob was a lifetime member of the Solon American Legion; he enjoyed playing cards and square dancing in his younger years.

His family includes three daughters: Virginia and Raymond Scott and Marguerite Humphreys of Iowa City, Susanne Humphreys of North Liberty, one granddaughter: Sarah of Chicago, one sister Patrica and Calvin Johnson of Dadeville, Alabama.

His parents, wife, one sister Jean Poulsen and an infant sister preceded him in death.
