Dorothy A. Klouda age 73 of Solon died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 28 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon. Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon on Friday from 5 to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 p.m. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Dorothy and her family.

Dorothy was born on February 26, 1929 near Newport in rural Johnson County the daughter of Otto and Adelia Cilek Kasper. She attended Newport Schools and graduated from University High School in Iowa City. She married Vernon Klouda on October 10, 1950 in Iowa City; together they farmed near Solon until they retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon along with being a member of the Helping Hands Group.

Her family includes her husband; Vernon of Solon, daughter Karen Klouda Houlahan and husband Jim Houlahan of Coralville.
