Norma Mae Pepper, age 74 formerly of 135 N. Main Street, North Liberty died Thursday, January 10, 2001 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2002 at the Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend James Vrba officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 9am Monday until services. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Mrs. Pepper was born March 13, 1927 in Conesville, Iowa the daughter of Jack and Margery (Schildberg) Buser. She graduated from high school in Columbus Junction in 1945 and received her degree as a licensed practical nurse. On January 7, 1956 she married John Pepper in Iowa City. For many years she worked as a licensed practical nurse at both Mercy Hospital and University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. She moved to the Brooklyn Care Center about four years ago where her husband still resides.

Her family includes her husband, two sons and their wives, Richard and Janice Gipple of Burlington, and William and Julie Pepper of Dallas, Tx; three daughters, Ann Catherine and her husband, Frank Rogers of Vinton, Ia., Mary and her husband, Elgie Garthwaite of Marion, and Susan Pepper and her fiancé, Jim Poggenpohl of North Liberty; five grandchildren, Dusten, Natosha, Amber, Kendra, and Dorry; brother, Robert Buser of Nichols, and a sister, Jean Wiley of Muscatine.

Her parents and a grandson preceded her in death.
