Elsie Vrana, age 90 formerly of 320 E. Washington Street, Iowa City died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at the Greenwood Manor Care Center in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at Gay 7 Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City with Chaplin Judy Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 12 noon on Wednesday until services at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Elsie was born January 26, 1912 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Grissell) Vrana. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1929. For many years she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell.

Along with her late sister, Lillian Vrana, they care for their elderly parents for years. She loved to sew, and travel with her sister.

Her family includes a nephew and his wife, Gordon and Judith Vrana of Davenport, a niece, Bette Vrana Caster of Davenport; great-nieces and nephew, Vicent Vrana, Bonnie Vrana Remley, Daniel Vrana, Gordon W. Vrana, John Caster and Terri Caster Adams.
