Joye L. Weidler, age 64 of 77 Modern Way, Iowa City, died Saturday, June 29, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brieff illness.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2002 at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In Leiu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the American Lung Association. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Joye’s family and her services.

Joye was born March 4, 1938, in Blockton, Iowa the daughter of Raymond and Joyce (Scott) Weaver. She graduated from Blockton High School and attended Comercial Business College here in Iowa City. On August 5, 1966, she married Delbert G. Weidler in Marengo, Iowa. For over thirty years she was employed in the Johnson County’s Department of Human Services.

Her family includes her husband, Delbert; daughters, Heather Weidler of Iowa City, Julie Weidler of Kalona, and Jodi Weidler; three grandchidlren, Andrea Sue Schropp, Anna Loraine Schropp, and Jason Stourac; brother, Dean “Buck” and his wife, Mary Fern Weaver of Blockton; four sisters, Mary Hildreth of Des Moines, Marie and her husband Paul Campbell of Blockton, Thelma Johnson of Blair, NE,. and Fern Light of West Point, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Duane Weaver, daughter, Joyce Elizabeth Fixsen, infant grandson, Andrew Scott Schropp.

Joye’s passions in life were her family, sewing, doing craft work, tending to her flowers, and her love of her peters, Spike and Noble.
