Elaine E. (Gerot) Matt, 83, formerly of Coralville, died Thursday February 8, 2007 at Bickford Cottage following a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday February 12, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, IA. Father Richard Adam will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 Sunday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Hospice of Iowa City.

Elaine was born on June 10, 1923 in Riverside, IA to Peter and Ida (Moss) Gerot. Elaine married Henry Matt on June 1st, 1946 in Detroit, MI. Henry passed away on December 12, 2001. Elaine worked as a bookkeeper for over forty years at the University of Iowa Campus Stores and Publications Ordering. She retired in 1988.

Elaine was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. Elaine had a wonderful sense of humor. She was fun loving and enjoyed being with her friends and family. Elaine loved to play cards, was an excellent seamstress, cook and enjoyed knitting and embroidery.

Elaine is survived by her three children; Kathleen Cox (William) of Des Moines, IA, Mary Duffey (Greg) of Iowa City, James Matt (Gretchen) of Castle Creek, NY, six grandchildren; Christopher Cox (Angie), Patricia Johnson (Brian), Mary Cox, Amanda Duffey, Jacob Matt, Victoria Matt, three great grandchildren; Elizabeth and Tyler Cox and Joseph Johnson, one brother Darrell Gerot, two sister-in-laws Ethel Gerot and Josephine Struthers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, a sister Marie, three brothers; Orville, Robert, and Cleo and a granddaughter Kelly Cox.
